Cape Land Trust plans 7.5-mile walk on June 4

Cape Elizabeth Land Trust Executive Director Chris Franklin will lead a 7.5-mile walk from Fort Williams to Kettle Cove to celebrate CELTís 25th anniversary year on Saturday, June 4. The three-and-a-half-hour walk, which will begin at 8 a.m. at Fort Williams, will offer an overview of various land-cover types in town: 200-year-old trees in Robinson Woods, the Spurwink Marsh and the shoreline of Great Pond.

At Kettle Cove, the group will be served a picnic lunch before being shuttled back to Fort Williams at about 1:30 p.m. Good shoes and hiking experience are recommended for the trek, which will mostly take place on well-maintained trails.

Preregistration is required. A $15 fee covers snacks, water and lunch. Register at Community Servicesí office at the Community Center, 343 Ocean House Road. Call 799-2868 or 767-6054 for more information.
