Two events this month will honor the memory of Cape Elizabeth resident Sean Casey, who passed away in August 2009 at age 21 as a result of an undetected heart anomaly.
The second annual Sean M. Casey Scholarship Silent Auction will be held from 5:30 to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22, at Joe’s Dockhouse in South Portland. Entertainment will include DJ’ing by Aaron Filieo, food, a raffle, a cash bar and a wide variety of auction items.
Tickets are $25, and proceeds raised at the event will fund an honorarium awarded to a Portland High School faculty member who goes “above and beyond” with students. The second annual tribute baseball game in Sean’s memory will be played at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, at Deering Oaks in Portland. Organized by Sean’s father, John, the assistant principal at Cape Elizabeth Middle School, the game will feature former players, teammates and coaches from Cape Elizabeth High School, Portland High School, Southern Maine Community College and the Twilight League.
